Meadowlark has been nominated for a Gotham Independent Film Award!

]]> Meadowlark was nominated for an award for the Best Film Not Playing at a Theater Near You. The five films nominated in this category will all screen in November at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. The winner will be announced during the awards ceremony on December 2.

New Festival Appearances

Meadowlark has been invited to two more festivals.

]]> Meadowlark will be playing at the Calgary International Film Festival on September 23rd. I will be there in person to present the film. I will also be a part of a panel called "The Documentary Filmmaker as Outsider."

In October, Meadowlark will be screening in the Seattle Lesbian and Gay Film Festival. More information will be on the way.

Meadowlark screens in Chicago

The Chicago Cinema Forum is presenting Meadowlark at Chicago Filmmakers on February 29, 2008 at 8PM.

]]> Just two days after my 27th birthday I will be screening my film in the Windy City. The screening will take place at Chicago Filmmakers, which is located at:

Wayward Pilgrims is showing at the Tank in NYC.

]]> Wayward Pilgrims was well-received at the 2007 Film Directing Program Showcase at REDCAT. The film is now going to screen for one night in New York City. So, New Yorkers, now is your chance to see our little film. Neither Seth nor I are able to make it, but we would love you to see a little bit of what we have done while at grad school.

The screening is titled Confronting Paradise: New Film and Video from CalArts and will included 12 films from 14 different filmmakers. Here is the info:

Bijou Screening

]]> Meadowlark is basically done. I actually have a lot of tedious stuff left to do, but the picture and sound editing are finished and I'm ready to show the film to my CalArts colleagues and any guests who want to make the trek up to Valencia (it's actually not that far!).

Each year CalArts celebrates the accomplishments of its students with a week-long series of screenings in our Bijou Theater on the CalArts campus. The screenings happen Monday through Friday from noon-midnight (and sometimes later (and sometimes earlier, for that matter)). This year's Bijou Fest kicks off on Monday, May 14. Meadowlark will be screening twice during Bijou week. Please come if you can:

CalArts Showcase

A film I made with my boyfriend, Seth Stewart, is set to screen at REDCAT in downtown Los Angeles.

]]> Our film, Wayward Pilgrims, is going to be in the 2007 CalArts Showcase for the Film Directing Program. Each year the faculty of the Film Directing Program selects two hours of student films to screen at the Roy and Edna Disney CalArts Theater (REDCAT).

REDCAT is an amazing performance/film space located withing the Walt Disney Concert Hall in downtown Los Angeles. Wayward Pilgrims will screen there along with eight other student films, including Seth's thesis film The Mutt and Mister Man. The screening is Friday, May 4 at 8PM and it is FREE! A reception will follow where you can hobnob with CalArts finest.

Meadowlark

I finally decided on a title for my film.

]]> For the last year and a half I have been referring to my thesis film by its working title "The Scary Man." After debating a number of different titles I've finally decided that the film is going to be called "Meadowlark."

"Meadowlark" is one of the first titles I thought of and filed away as a possibility. Over the last two months the name kept cropping up in my thoughts. I decided I would just test it out in my title sequence one day and now it's there to stay. I think it sounds very nice.

I will update the site to reflect this title change as soon as I can.
